DESCRIPTION

Gileads pipeline in these areas includes products for patients suffering from Cystic Fibrosis, resistant hypertension as well as a variety of other conditions.

Specific Responsibilities:
Develop analytical methods, produce data, and communicate results in support of synthesis and development of drug products as well as regulatory filings. Problem-solve and troubleshoot for analytical instrumentation.

Solid understanding of analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis. Hands-on proficiency with HPLC and other chromatographic techniques. Experience with Empower is a plus. Familiarity with spectroscopic techniques is an advantage. Experience in GMP environment is highly desired.

Essential Duties and Job Functions:
Independently plans and executes assigned experiments that support routine research activities and project goals. Demonstrates and applies advanced level of understanding project goals and methods. Selects appropriate methods and techniques in performing experiments. May contribute to the development of project strategy. Collaborates with supervisory personnel to develop routine research methods. Works cross-functionally within organization to achieve common goals. Recommends alternatives, researches new methods and techniques and may proactively seek out senior personnel to discuss potential solutions to problems. Participates in group meetings. Presents results of work, interprets data, draws conclusions regarding presented material and nature of work. May act as a resource for other research personnel within the project. Works with minimal supervision on projects of moderate to complex scope.

REQUIREMENTS:
Typically requires a BS degree in discipline related to the specific nature of research being conducted, and minimum 0 to 2 years of relevant experience or a MS degree. Good verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills are required. Must be able to participate in highly effective teams. Requires ability to use common tools for effective scientific communication within the company. Demonstrates ability to recognize anomalous and inconsistent results and interpret experimental outcomes. Develops skills in data analysis and ability to evaluate quality of data.
