Job Title: Global Commodity Manager

Reports To: Manager, Global Commodity Management Direct Materials  

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Manager of Global Commodity Management for direct materials within Millipore’s Global Sourcing organization, you will develop and execute complex sourcing strategies for inventoried direct materials. You will also partner with Manufacturing, Production, Quality, and Technical leaders to identify supply chain opportunities in these commodity areas.  In this highly visible role, you will be expected to develop strong relationships with key stakeholders within the corporate and divisional levels and to execute sourcing strategies to drive value and significantly impact bottom-line profitability at Millipore. You must be able to demonstrate through concrete examples that you have strong experience sourcing and managing one or more of the following categories at a global level:
Biologic products i.e. Bovine Serums, Insulin, Bio Diagnostic Kits
Laboratory Supplies, Chemicals
Filtration Devices,Primary Packaging
 
Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Leads highly strategic global, cross-functional Sourcing Teams and championing the strategic sourcing process within the organization
Supports as a team member strategic sourcing initiatives led by other Global Commodity Managers for commodities that impact sourcing decisions at the local site
Establishes best practice inventory management programs i.e. VMI, consignment, kanban
Prepares Business Cases, including ROI models, and effectively presents new programs to Senior Management
Continually identifies and implements new opportunities for Cost Savings and Cost Avoidance and proactively tracks progress toward these objectives
Manages the Strategic Sourcing process, including the RFI/RFP process on a global basis
Manages supplier selection process and ensures supplier selections are based on sound selection criteria
Leads in the development and execution of negotiation strategies with suppliers, including specific targets for pricing, service, quality, and inventory
Works with Legal to establish and execute optimal contract terms and conditions with suppliers
Develops implementation and transition plans to ensure sourcing benefits are fully realized
Conducts supplier rationalizations and segmentation initiatives, proactively reviewing supplier performance, and establishing sourcing strategies
Develops global commodity strategies with defined plans for cost savings, risk assessment and mitigation, and service level agreements
Provides rigorous analysis of spend data and market trends and dynamics to prioritize and launch sourcing initiatives within designated spend categories
Identifies and pursues Continuous Improvement opportunities and utilizes Lean Six Sigmamethodology to increase efficiencies and processes and supports change management initiatives across a multi-location manufacturing environment
Maintains Quality Management Systems as it relates to purchasing
Participates in supplier audits and assists with supplier purchase specifications
Minimum Educational Level:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, logistics, finance or related discipline
MBA preferred
CPM certification a plus
Required Skills and Experience:
Minimum 5 years professional experience in a Strategic Sourcing role managing biologic commodities in life science or pharmaceutical industries.
8-12 years work experience in Procurement or Strategic Sourcing       Experience in a global, matrixed organization with experience and exposure in advanced sourcing strategies

Experience performing in a fast-paced, goal-oriented, and time-sensitive environment
Ability to lead and influence change in the face of complexity and ambiguity
Ability to speak and present effectively to peers and Senior Management
Strong relationship building skills with key Stakeholders at all levels of the organization
Ability to leverage networks and relationships
Capable of influencing and motivating others with new ideas and concepts
Proficient at thinking and acting strategically, championing change, and generating innovative solutions
Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision making skills to manage and resolve highly complex business issues
Knowledge of financial accounting, strategic sourcing, and supplier management concepts
Strong negotiations and communication skills (both oral and written)
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on a daily basis
Project management skills a must
Proven track record of building and leading teams
Proficient in MS Office Suite
Technology-savvy to leverage eProcurement and eSourcing tools, such as: Oracle, SAP, and/or Ariba
Proficient with Business Analytics/Reporting Tools, such as: Business Objects/
