DESCRIPTION
Amgen's Analytical Research and Development (ARD) organization seeks an outstanding scientist to support small molecule drug development activities at our Thousand Oaks, CA facility. Key responsibilities for this position may include the development and application of in-situ and off-line chromatographic, spectroscopic, and solid-state methods to identify and monitor species during the process development through to the manufacturing phase of small molecule drug substances and products. The selected candidate may be expected to investigate, develop, recommend, and characterize analytical process monitoring methods for raw materials, starting materials, reference standards, impurities, intermediates, active ingredients, and drug products, using a wide variety of instrumentation.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Ph.D. degree in analytical chemistry, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, biochemistry or other chemistry field.

Preferred qualifications
- Experience in wet chemistry, separation/spectroscopic sciences and associated instrumentation
- Experience with process analytical technologies (PAT) and data analysis (e.g. chemometrics) packages.
- Experience with process/chemical engineering for the manufacturing of small molecule drug substances and products.
- Written and oral communication skills for the timely documentation, presentation, and discussion of scientific results in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, team-based environment.
- Trouble-shooting skills, problem-solving, data review and interpretation, and multi-tasking
