Prime Therapeutics Proves Cox-2 Pre-authorization Is Effective In Reducing Pharmacy Costs For Blue Cross And Blue Shield Of Nebraska Without Compromising Medical Costs

Prime Therapeutics (Prime), a pharmacy benefits manager, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska implemented a Cox-2 pre-authorization program that effectively decreased pharmacy costs. The results of a 12-month study of the Cox-2 pre-authorization program show a decrease in pharmacy costs of $0.99 per member per month (PMPM) and a return on investment of 3.8.
